Preschool Weeks 5,6,7,8 Honesty

Honesty:  Always giving a truthful answer

  

we did leaf rubbings and bark rubbings

learning her letters with proverbs for preschoolers

a highlight to our last couple of weeks - K reading See and Me from her 100 easy lessons

we went to the farmers market and bought a variety of tiny pumpkins and then the girls painted them

and just a little creative play time while big sis is schooling

Preschool weeks 4 & 5

Patience - waiting with a happy heart

 We did some time in the kitchen each week, the top one we made mini pumpkin bunt cakes, but I didn't take a picture of the finished product and below we made mini pudding cheesecakes

 K made a handprint wreath in fall colors for my front door

 for a project she has been making this prayer journal, she choose someone or something to pray for, we write it down, pray and then she draws a picture for it.

 these are candle holder pumpkins, we cut shapes out of tape and put it on the jars to make faces and then painted with orange acrylic paint and when they were dry we pulled the tape off

new this week we are starting Spanish on the computer

Preschool Week 3 Obedience

We  wrapped up our 3rd week of using the curriculum Character Concepts for Preschoolers.  Keely was able to tell me the definition of Obedience with out help -"doing what is expected of me, Cheerfully, Immediately, and thoroughly"  We have been working on the letter A mostly with an apple theme, so it was fitting to end our session with a field trip - the orchard wasn't open yet so we went to the farmers market to buy apples.

we then took the apples and made Grandma's recipe for Apple Cake

 our kitchen time has been a real hit around here.  I have decided to divide and conquer, which I know many of you have more than 2 kids so it's not possible.  K's on Wednesday and we usually bake and M's on Fridays and we do whatever we need as I am trying to make her proficient over all in the kitchen to really become a help to us all(on Friday morning she made soft boiled eggs for her and her sister).

we have been trying to include weekly science experiments from our Mind Blowing Science Kit, here is a sunset in a tube, but I'm not sure we got exactly the results we wanted.

for Art we are continuing on with The Way They See.  We did finger painting which I realized K has never done before - she loved it.  I always let M join in as long as her other work is done.

and last but not least I helped K make this apples and honey plate for our Rosh Hashanah celebration from M's curriculum  since it fit nicely with our apple theme

preschool week 2

we are continuing on with our Character Concepts for Preschoolers program, I haven't been that organized with this as I would like to be, but I have made up a grid sheet to use each week from here on out, so I hope to be more thorough and know what I need to be doing after this week.  We didn't do any projects or art or science experiments.  But we did fit in our kitchen time.  I even kicked M out of the kitchen so it really could be K's project.

o.k. not the most nutritious and we didn't use any seasonal items, but it was - use what I had and what I had time for or skip it all together.  Another thing you may notice about my preschooler is she is usually in her pajamas,  she just loves jammies and it's hard to get her to get out of them, so on most days I don't fight it till we have to go somewhere.  Not to mention she has way too many of them and she hates to wear the same set 2 nights in a row.

on another note, we have had great weather her so the girls have ate lunch outside several days this week.

Preschool week 1 Obedience

We are using Character Concepts for Preschoolers from The Learning Parent this year with K.  After the first couple of days I realized I was going to have to spend some time scheduling(putting it on a weekly grid) what we are to do for each day.  It's really not much at all, but being blessed by MFW and the handy guide, I prefer to be able to look at one page for the week and check things off as we complete them.  So I have a little work to do there but then things should be super easy from there on out. Our Main Studies this week have been obedience - doing what is expected of me, cheerfully, immediately and thoroughly.  We spend time with flash cards to drill alphabet and our character/definition and a bible verse.  We also played a fun game outside where we ran around listening for directions and being obedient to do what they were told.  Crawl, jump, roll, run, you get the idea.

A lot of K's school time is spent playing with puzzles, games, play doh and whatever else I throw at her while I work with M.

Once a week we will bake together.  Now you can see how we like to eat our vegetables.  Someone gave us some zucchini and we were having company for dinner so a chocolate chip zucchini cake was called for.

we are reading a book about seashores and then we made a wave jar with water and oil.
