These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7
Here Molly is gluing cotton seeds to here cotton, then we rolled them up so that the next day she could pretend to pick cotton and remove the seeds Here she spent forever picking the seeds out. Then we learned about Eli Whitney and his invention of the cotton gin. We also read a book about him and learned about his inventing mass production and his life story. on her summary sheet for Eli Whitney she decided she would glue her cotton on to it.
Here's Molly's weather vane, we never actually took it outside to actually test it out, but Molly blew on it to see it work I added a little more map work for each state so we would remember where each state is located better - I have her out line it and highlight it on a cheap wall map($ spot at target) and then add to our large us puzzle and then add each state to a magnet map I found at St Vincents. Study the state of Kentucky we read about the Cournal Sanders and so we made a tip to our local KFC my computer needed a new hard drive, so I have gotten way behind, but I hope to get us caught back up on our posting.

lDid you know Ben and Jerry are from Vermont??
The kids made paper snakes to see how air moves
we had a really good week, I was actually was very glad to get back to a regular routine again. We read a box car kids book taking place in Vermont giving us the idea to make snow cones - we took fresh snow from that morning and poured real maple syrup ok, our syrup wasn't from Vermont - it's local but worked just as well.
We took some time off from the usual studies to spend time in the kitchen preparing Christmas goodies and to work on presents for others and our Christmas cards, we watched Christmas movies and read Christmas books. We would have done even more, but teacher was sick the whole week. As you can see they decorated their house all by themselves.
Christmas caroling with our co-op group at Woodland Ct. Nursing home I just love how homeschooling can be done on occasion in your Pjs under a desk with your little sister. These are donkeys like what Mary would have had rode on to Bethlehem
Science gone bad, we are reading Farmer boy in the little house series and Almonzo takes a cup of popcorn and adds it to a cup of milk and it's supposed to fit, I don't know why ours did not work. Molly has been begging to learn cursive, so I got out this dry erase book to practice letters, I will let her work on it a few minutes a day and see how she dose. I have been trying to tell her her printing is not perfect yet and maybe we should work on that before cursive. In Science we have been learning about the state bird for each state we study. We learned about Robins and then made a robin's nest. Mud - chocolate and Peanut Butter, dried grass - shredded wheat, twigs - chow mein noodles. We were suppose to use green grapes for eggs but all I had was red so not all that authentic.
